その他の書誌記述:: During 2019 the National Seismological Network (RSN: UCR-ICE) located 4602 earthquakes. From the total located events, 252 (~5,5%) were felt earthquakes, including 24 significant events with magnitudes Mw between 5.0 and 6.6. The majority (75%) of the felt earthquakes were shallow (< 30 km) and 51 % had low magnitudes (Mw < 3.9). Local and regional faulting caused 113 felt earthquakes, while the subduction of the Cocos Plate caused 139. The largest amount of earthquakes occurred in four clusters located in the Pacific Ocean offshore Guanacaste, the Guanacaste volcanic chain, the Central Valley, and a region north of the Burica Peninsula. The most significant seismic event was the Armuelles earthquake on June 25 (6.4 Mw), which caused the highest seismic intensity observed (VII) and the largest amount of energy released during the first week of its occurrence (2,62E+11 kJ). The number of aftershocks located for this earthquake coincides with a theoretical forecast calculated for this event in this work.
