Descripción: | The Klippel-Feil Syndrome (KFS) was first described by Maurice Klippel and Andre Feil in 1912, in a 46-year-old tailor who was admitted for “lung congestion and urinary alterations”. This pathology is characterized for a partial or full synostosis of cervical vertebrae, this entity could be accompanied by extravertebral manifestations. KFS is the result of a fault in the segmentation process in the embryo development of the axial skeleton, it occurs between the third and eight weeks of pregnancy. When the biomechanics of the spine become altered, several manifestations develop; instability, malalignment and neurological damage that could be permanent. |
