| Descrição: | This study evaluated the diversity and composition of birds and mammals in the Río Tiribí Protected Zone, encompassing areas of secondary forest and abandoned plantations of Alder, Ash, and secondary forest with Eucalyptus. Monitoring was conducted using fixed bird count points, totaling 400 minutes of sampling effort, and camera traps that recorded 17,760 hours of sampling. Data analysis included the Shannon and Jaccard indices, as well as species accumulation curves and heat maps, to characterize species richness and the distribution of the observed fauna. The bird community was dominated by insectivorous species, with a lower representation of frugivores and nectarivores, primarily from the families Troglodytidae, Tyrannidae, and Parulidae. Among mammals, three felid species were recorded (Puma concolor, Leopardus pardalis, and Herpailurus yagouaroundi), along with two elusive species (Urocyon cinereoargenteus and Bassariscus sumichrasti). Secondary forest and Ash plantation land exhibited the highest diversity values and showed greater similarity in bird species composition. For mammals, the highest similarity was observed between the forest and secondary forest with Eucalyptus, suggesting comparable ecological conditions. Sampling effort was adequate and indicated good habitat connectivity for birds, while the lower mammal richness suggests the presence of small but functionally important populations. |
