Miêu tả:In this retrospective study, oficial data provided by National System of Conservation Areas of MINAE is presented, detailing legal and ilegal tree felling per year for the period from 2011 to 2023. The results indicate that 20,547 trees were reported as illegally felled, averaging 1,581 per year. The provinces with the highest number of complaints about ilegal logging were Puntarenas and Alajuela, with 363 and 281 respectively. Additionally, the year with the highest number of complaiints was 2012, with 2,108 trees felled. In the case of trees felled with permission, the total was 27,340 for the same period. The tren curve graphs of ilegal logging in the seven provinces show an increas in the provinces of Limón and Alajuela for the coming years. Finally, the collected data Will serve as a baseline for the Ecological Blue Flag Program to monitor the behavior of legal and ilegal logging in Costa Rica.
