Description:The rapid expansion of Generative AI (GAI) calls for a clear understanding of engineering students’ attitudes. This study assessed attitudes toward GAI among N=1,086 students at the Costa Rican Institute of Technology using the GAAIS-20 (12 positive items and 8 reverse-scored negatives). Scores were above the neutral point, indicating an overall favorable stance. Comparative analyses showed small differences by gender, major, and campus/center, whereas no appreciable differences emerged across mathematics courses (Kruskal–Wallis, p>.05). Overall, findings point to a positive and widespread attitude toward GAI with nuances linked to technological familiarity; a responsible pedagogical integration with clear academic guidelines is recommended.
