Descripción:In the present study, a description of the seals and distinctive signs of quality will be made, used in the main fresh export products of Costa Rica, within these seals and distinctive signs of quality are the Geographical Identifications, the Denominations of Origin, Brand Country (Essential Costa Rica) Fair Trade, Organic Certification and the Rainforest Alliance Certification, where the relevance of each one will be presented, as well as its main characteristics or principles, steps to be certified, entities related to the subject in the country, main certification agencies, in order to contextualize the readers. The information presented comes from an exhaustive bibliographic review, which includes scientific articles, degree theses, communications from the certifying organizations, among others. The seals and distinctive signs of quality provide a product from the agricultural export sector with differentiation in international markets, because they are visible elements to the final consumer, where can trust that product has gone through legal, cultural, social, legal and/or environmental compliance processes that generate confidence for their purchase and consumption.
