| विवरण: | Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease affecting approximately 515,860 Costa Rican adults between the ages of 18 and 64. This condition can develop due to various risk factors, with the primary ones being an unbalanced diet and lack of physical activity. Taking this issue into account, the five stages of the methodology from the School of Industrial Design were applied: Explore, Understand, Create, Experiment, and Concretize. As part of the process, two user tests were conducted in which participants performed specific tasks to evaluate their interaction with the gadget. The result of this research was Alba, a smart device designed for diabetic users to promote healthy habits, improve their lifestyle, and reduce the impact of diabetes on their daily routines. This was achieved through the implementation of four main functions: medication consumption alarms, reminders for medical appointments, recommendations for diabetic-friendly recipes and substitutes for traditional Costa Rican cuisine, and alarms for physical activity. The tests showed mostly positive results, with the only drawback being the location of the on/off button on the side of the device. Alba successfully integrates dietary, medical, and physical tracking into a single device, providing users with more comprehensive and personalized support compared to other market alternatives. |
