Opis:Currently, inter-institutional collaborations are key for the development of scientific research. This lead to the creation of ECOMAR in 2022. A project involving four public universities in Costa Rica and two international universities. This initiative enabled the first monitoring of emerging contaminants in the marine-coastal zone of the Gulf of Nicoya, with the aim of establishing a baseline on the presence of these substances in marine ecosystems, their impact on biodiversity, and emerging productive activities in the area. In addition, oyster and mussel producers were trained in sustainable practices, strengthening both environmental sustainability and community development in the region. This article seeks to highlight the importance of inter-institutional work and how it was possible to carry out a project by integrating academic, technical, and infrastructure strengths of various institutions.
