Scrum only works when there is a genuine commitment to its implementation

| Cur Síos: | This paper presents a qualitative analysis of the implementation of the Scrum framework in a real-world environment operating under the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) model. The main purpose is to contribute, through an empirical study, to the idea that Scrum only works when there is genuine commitment to its application, as common errors and frequent criticisms often stem from a partial or incorrect implementation of its principles. The study is based on the analysis of seven Program Increment (PI) retrospectives conducted in the IT department of a financial institution. More than 130 comments from participants were collected and categorized, grouped into three main areas: positive aspects, aspects for improvement, and negative aspects. The findings reveal both alignments and tensions between agile theory and day-to-day practice, highlighting elements such as cross-team collaboration, the quality of agile ceremonies, business engagement, and clarity of objectives. |
