| Diğer Bilgiler: | Melon production and exports from Costa Rica were studied. Information obtained from different sources (FAO, BCCR, PROCOMER, MAG, CANAPEMS) was analyzed. Personal communications were held with managers of melon export companies, and related publications were reviewed. Data about melon planting area, number of trading companies, geographical distribution of farms, value of exports and their volume per country of destiny and by type of melon along several years is presented. Finally, agronomic, economic, environmental and logistic challenges for the future of melon production in Costa Rica are analyzed. |
