Descripción:Potato (Solanum tuberosum) is one of the most important crop in Colombia and worldwide, stands out as one of the vegetable sources of proteins and carbohydrates. S. tuberosum is affected by a large number of pests; among them is Tecia solanivora, this important phytopathogen was identified in Guatemala - (Central America). This article is focused on exposing the biological control used to counter the attack of T. solanivora that covers the use of microorganisms and the production of exo-microbial products. Actually the main antagonistic microorganisms of T. solanivora are: Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), granulovirus, and nematodes Steinernema sp and Heterorhabditis sp. To achieve the infection, these microorganisms must survive the adverse conditions of the environment, colonize the environment and and finally evade the host immune response, this is achieved by producing different exo-products with antimicrobial activities, lithic and toxic substances, among others. This important feature allows a farmer to maintain populations of the insect at lower levels.
