Descripción: | During these unique times caused by COVID-19, there are few opportunities for parents to share their opinions. This paper focuses on the experiences of five mothers of Mexican background with their children’s online learning during the 2020-21 school year in Tucson, AZ, United States. Three themes stand out from our conversations with the mothers: the uncertainty about their role in the online teaching modality, the tension with the parents’ work and activities in relation to this new modality, and the changes in how their children are learning mathematics. The pandemic allowed the mothers to have a closer look at their children’s instruction. We suggest taking advantage of this extraordinary situation to promote greater communication in the future between home and school. |
