Descripció:In the early nineteenth century, London became the refuge of many American patriots. Undoubtedly, Francisco de Miranda was the most illustrious of them all. This paper explores how the Venezuelan precursor sought by various means to influence British public opinion, in order to gain support for the cause of independence in Latin America. To do this, he had contacts at the highest level and devoted to propaganda, with initiatives such as the newspaper El Colombiano. A British rulers, however, were not interested so much the cause of freedom as to weaken the Spanish Empire.
