Descripción: | Scanning electron and light microscopy observations of cowpea leaves infected with yellow mottle virus reveal formation of epidermal convexities, alterations of the stomata and subsequent obliteration of the stomatal pore, also desintegration of anticlinal walls in the subepidermal mesophyll cells, chlorosis, packing of the mesophyll, non formation of air spaces, anomalous development of the vascular tissue and obliteration of some cells. Collapse of the phloem cells is frequently observed. Hyperplasia, hypoplasia, and hypertrophy are characteristic of this disease. |
