| الوصف: | Debris avalanche deposits are masses of material mobilized by gravity, which can be triggered by volcanic or seismic activity. This study describes, for the first time, the geomorphologic characteristics of a debris avalanche deposit near the town of Cimarrones. Identified morphologies include modified drainage basins and elongated to rounded hills. The main deposit is characterized by a light brown matrix and a predominance of gray lava lithoclasts. Additional diagnostic features include jigsaw structures and significant textural variability at outcrop scale. The source area is linked to a horseshoe-shaped structure located east of Colonia Guayabo. The occurrence of multiple debris avalanche deposits, together with the dominant structural framework along the southeastern flank at Turrialba Volcano suggests a recurrent pattern of emplacement of instability processes, including volcanic debris avalanches. |
