Descripción:The paper presents an analysis of Catullus muse, Clodia Metelli, comparing her situation with that of the romen women by the end of the Republican period. Clodia, seems to be more than the cruel and unfaithful domina portrayed by the poet on his verses. Relating her to some of Ciceros comments, in his famous speech Pro Caelio and in his personal letters, concerning the public and private life of Clodia, we might discover a different woman from the one that tradition has outlined.
