Descripción:This academic essay is a synthesis on the institutional development of historical research in Costa Rica in the last half century and its relationship with Central American region. It focuses on the work of public universities, since they have been the main responsible for the development of this discipline in the country, through teaching, research and dissemination; especially the University of Costa Rica, the oldest and largest in the country. It also includes the work of other institutions of the Costa Rican State that, from the perspective of cultural diffusion, are interested in research on national and Central American histories.
