Descripció:The study analyzed the factors that contributed to the development of touristic industrial districts in La Fortuna and Monteverde for the period 1980-2010.The theory of industrial districts is based in a phenomenon of agglomeration of small and medium sized enterprises, in a given region and around an economic activity; where the region is characterized by hosting a community and not just a workplace. Five factors proposed by the literature were evaluated: employment concentration, business agglomeration, institutional factor, cooperation factor and community; adapted to the existing methodologies in light of the available data. The research verified the presence of the five factors and determined the existence of a touristic industrial district in La Fortuna and Monteverde, but it was not possible to identified the individual contribution of each factor to their formation.
