Περιγραφή:This article we present results from the case study on the local economy of Pérez Zeledón and is part of the research program in regional economics that we have been conducting at the Institute for Economic Research (IICE) since the year 2005. In this study we applied a series of instruments for the analysis in regional economics to identify levels of specialization and competitiveness of the economy of Pérez Zeledón by using coefficients of localization. Regarding the analysis of the labor market we applied the shift share model, which allows determining change in the participation of employment spatially modified and dividing employment growth in four effects: the national effect, the sectorial effect, the regional effect and the location effect.
