Miêu tả:The planet contains only 0.005% of accessible drinking water, necessitating approaches that consider the ecosocial aspects of water use. Ecological economics offers this possibility, by integrating the biophysical indicator of the water footprint into the social metabolism, with the aim of studying water metabolism. This methodological fusion develops a tool for the analysis of productive efficiency, which makes it possible to identify and study the metabolic process production-consumption-impact, of a company or institution, on the use of water resources. In this study, the blue water footprint is assessed to analyze water metabolism at the National University of Costa Rica. The findings indicate that the university needs to enhance its electricity usage and the consumption behaviors of its staff. Additionally, it is essential to keep estimating this indicator as a reliable tool for managing the intersection of business and environmental concerns.
