| Miêu tả: | Research on acquisitions as a mode of entry is a topic that has not received due attention in the social sciences in Costa Rica. In particular, the administration as an area of study has not ventured into the analysis of procurement in any industry. But the theory of resources (tR’s) provides a conceptual and analytical framework that helps to explain this mode of acquisitions from diverse perspectives. this researchtries to contribute to the TR’s the issue of depreciation as a possible means of entry for acquisitions as a mode of entry. this aspect of acquisitions has not been studied by theories of business, especially by the TR’s. the research proposes a model of analysis of the depreciation factor that may influence that mode of entry. This theoretical proposition is tested in the study of acquired private banks in Costa Rica during 2000-2009. The results of this study show the analytical, explanatory and predictive capacity of the suggested model. The banks acquired under study are Interfin S. A, Banex S. A, Uno S. A and Cuscatlán S. A. It extends to the BAC San José S. A, acquired July 15, 2010 as the first case that validates the predictive ability of the model. The study examines the depreciation of fixed resources in the banking sector in order to study its influence on the propensity of acquisition and the effective acquisition as a mode of entry by foreign banks. To this end, the Propensity of Acquisition Indicator (IPA), this seeks to measure the level of the propensity in question.
