Description:In a global context marked by various forms of violence, recognizing the spaces where it manifests is a necessary step toward its prevention and management. The objective was to identify the spaces where school violence occurs, based on the experiences of students at two Mexican universities. A qualitative study using the phenomenological method was conducted, involving 71 students from two public universities located across four cities in Sonora, Mexico. Regarding student selection, critical case sampling was employed, focusing on those who reported experiences of violence during the 2024–2025 period. Data were collected through written narratives, guided by a set of topics administered via a Google Forms questionnaire. Content analysis was performed using the qualitative software MAXQDA (version 2024). The results identified the following as the primary settings for violence: classrooms, common areas (hallways, gardens), specific buildings (library, cafeteria, computer labs), and social media platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram). The classroom stood out as the space with the highest frequency of violent incidents, despite the fact that it should foster an environment conducive to learning and uphold an unwavering respect for the right to an education free from violence. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating a spatial dimension into the study of school violence in higher education institutions; doing so offers a way to understand the phenomenon and guide evidence-based actions that help transform these institutions into spaces of peace.
