Descrizione:Received: 10-26-2019 Approved: 10-29-2019 ABSTRACT  The life of Costa Rican writer Lisímaco Chavarría (1878-1913) was short, complex, trouble, and ambivalent. He was admired and underestimated, awarded and excluded. His life was marked by poverty and drama. He published mainly in journals of his time. He was also an internationally famous modernist poet, not always recognized by the literary canon of his country. One hundred years after his death, his presence remains alive in the communal memory of his native land San Ramón.
