Diğer Bilgiler:The article's main objective is to describe disasters (epidemics, earthquakes and plagues of insects) occurred in the western Central Valley of Costa Rica in the first half of the nineteenth century thus understand the experiences of a society governed by self- subsistence agriculture and their strategies to cope with catastrophe. Among the most important is to realize that the experience of disasters has historical characteristics, as well in the years under study the relationship between disasters and epidemics and the resistance of the majority to vaccination affected the prolongation of catastrophic events.
