Descripción:The finding of a case of isosporosis in a child hospitalized at the Hospital San Juan de Dios and whose previous living quarters had been the boys dormitory "Domingo Soldati", led the authors to discover four more cases from the same source. These findings confirmed the authors suspicion that the charity institutions, of not too good sanitary conditions, couId act as endemic foci for this protozoosis. Two more cases were found in hospitalized patieots, thus bringing to seven the total of cases described. The paper gives the incidence of various intestinal. parasites in 44 boys quartered at the Dormitorio Soldati as compared to the incidence in a 100 boys of the same age group hospitalized at the San Juan de Dios. The cases of isosporosis studied are described. In two of them the passage of oocysts was observed of 36 days, and it was determined that apparently the elimination took place in cicles. The morfological observations in the oocysts of Isospora are summarized, illustrated with microphotagrapic data. Finally the authors make the commentaries pertaining to the observations carried on.
