Descripción: | The distribution of the several protein components of human serum was studied in a total of 500 subjects, of which 182 were women and 318 were men: in turn, out of these figures, there were 31 males and 69 females whose age was less than 9 years old. This group was taken as a representative sample fragment of Costa Rican population and Wolfson's method was used in all quantitative determinations. The following results were obtained for the entire group:Total proteins = 7,00 ± 0,49 gr %Serum albumin = 3,89 ± 0,48 gr %Total serum globulins = 3,11 ± 0,39 gr %α globulin = 1,03 ± 0,23 gr %β globulin = 0,86 ± 0,45 gr %γ globulin = 1,22 ± 0,18 gr %A/G ratio = 1,25 ± 0,26Also a comparison is made of the results obtained usings Wolfson's procedure with those of Kolmer's modified Greenberg and Van Slyke's.The influence of hemolysis in the fractionation of serum protein using Wolfson's method was also noticed. |
