Descripción: | In Freemasonry, the ars memoriae has long been hidden amid rituals, sometimes between the lines of the Liberal Arts, sometimes among the Cardinal Virtues. However, its importance may be even greater if it explains the transition from the Operational to the Speculative Phase, a hypothesis put forward by Frances A. Yates. By following this path, this analytical-critical study, based on literature, brings an unusual hypothesis: the Operative and Speculative Phases may have been concomitant or, with greater speculative boldness, based on official historiography, the latter, lato sensu, may even have preceded the former. |
