Descripción:This work is concern with the comparative study of adsorption equilibrium and kinetic of aluminum onto chitosan and rice husk, and its application in drinking water samples. This study involved the determination of maximum ion adsorption pH in a pH range of 4 to 7. The results show that the metallic ion adsorption depends on the pH, where the highest aluminum removal was at pH 5 on chitosan and at pH 6 on rice husk. The evaluation of the adsorption equilibrium data showed that, for both adsorbents, there was a better fit to the Freundlich model; and the maximum adsorption capacity for aluminum was 45.26 mg/g on chitosan and 69.76 mg/g on rice husk. The adsorption kinetic experimental data showed a good correlation with the pseudo second order model. As well, the efficacy of both bioadsorbents in the aluminum adsorption from drinking water samples was verified, with removal higher than 95%.
