The publications have been classified in two geographical areas: 1. Central America and the Caribbean, and 2. Costa Rica. The last ones were subdivided into papers related with the northwestern, the central, the Caribbean or the southern part of the country. In relation with the impact of the Central American Journal of Geology in the advance of knowledge in the field of neotectonics, it is found that is very limited with respect to the Central America and the Caribbean region, because the scarcity of papers (9.2 % of the total) and their limited research results. In relation with Costa Rica, it is found a bigger impact, especially with respect to the research publications associated with the central part of Costa Rica (57.6 % of the publications of the country), and a significant advance of knowledge is identified about the fault system associated with the Central Costa Rica Deformed Belt
