Descripción: | The spider crab Microphrys bicornutus lives on rocky shores, coral reefs and seagrass beds in the Caribbean littoral of Costa Rica. This crab camouflage itself with various materials found in its environment. Tests with algae of different colors, forms, sizes and texture on substrates of different colors showed that Microphrys bicornutus prefers fine, soft and short filamentous algae and that there was no tendency to match the color of the algae used for decoration with the color of the substrate. |
