Descrizione:The recent international financial crisis also brought in an accumulation of liquidassets by non-financial corporations from developed countries whose dimension called the attention of analysts and scholars. This article discusses the suitability of the main theoretical approaches that have attempted to explain the liquidity hoarding. It seeks to provide a historical framework to account for the cyclical dynamics of liquidity accumulation during the period up to 1980, and the antecedents it found regarding previous corporate growth strategies.
