Description:Today's society, in addition to representing technological progress, also brings with it new adversities. This article, “Information Crimes: Identity Theft,” seeks to investigate and analyze the new types of cybercrime that have emerged with technological progress. The author analyzes phishing as a criminal form of identity theft. Although these new forms of crime have become a significant problem and a threat to citizens, it is not possible to ignore technological advances and the new opportunities they bring. The objective is to show the theoretical and practical application of the crime, according to Costa Rican criminal law.
