Descripción: | Why is the aesthetic of the grotesque still valid in present day Mexican graphic art? What can explain the unconditional adherence of the master Victor Hernández to the traditional graphic techniques and procedures as opposed to the new media, support and materials developed by the technological industry? How has he managed to achieve the technical exquisiteness and maturity of his linocuts and at the same time embrace these as the means of expression which most closely reflect his character and personality? By means of personal interview, in-depth analysis of his work and permanent contact with the artist for over a year we have been able to study both his personal trajectory and artistic career the keynote of which is his inherent concept of liberty and independence and show the reasons behind the paradigm of individualized creation which governs the current framework of Aztec graphic art. |
