Disgrifiad:The paper deals with the delicate relationship that existed between the idea of tourism and environment in the port of Puntarenas between 1946 and 1980. During which time he changed the summer tourism trade to tourism, both framed in the desire of port development and a better quality of life for Puntarenas. Although the concept was primary environmental and utilitarian, such representation was a way to raise public awareness of the importance of Puntarenas conserve their environment to survive the economic changes imposed by the new industrialization and commercialization of the country, which involved the promotion of generation sector and the consequences of a liberalization model of regional and national development.
