বিবরন:Introduction. Spodoptera albula causes considerable economic losses in vegetables; therefore, it is important to explore biological alternatives for its management. Objective. To determine the biological efficacy of three concentrations of the Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (75, 100, and 150 LE) on mortality in Spodoptera albula larvae and its transstadial effect. Materials and methods. The study was conducted from February to April 2021 at the Center for Research in Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences (CICAV) of the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, León. A completely randomized experimental design (CRD) was used with four treatments (three concentrations: 75 larval equivalents (LE) (1.94 × 10¹⁰ Polyhedral Inclusion Bodies (PIB)), 100 LE (6.164 × 10¹⁰ PIB), and 150 LE (7.52 × 10¹⁰ PIB), and a control free of the NPV) and five replicates. The experimental unit consisted of 30 Spodoptera albula larvae in the fourth and fifth instars, for a total of 150 larvae per treatment and an experimental population of 600 individuals. Infestation was carried out using a cube of soy-based artificial diet sprayed with the virus and placed in plastic cups, one larva per cup. Results. The three concentrations of NPV evaluated showed statistically significant differences in efficacy compared to the control treatment. The 100 LE dose showed the highest mortality (100%). For the 75 and 150 LE treatments, transstage contamination was observed, with 3.33% mortality in the pupal stage and 5% adult mortality for the 75 LE treatment. Conclusions. The three NPV concentrations increased larval mortality in Spodoptera albula and produced a transstadial effect that reduced adult survival.
