Parental relationship and academic performance of primary school students in a public school in Lima, Peru

Descripción:The objective of the research was to establish the correspondence between parental relationship and academic achievement in elementary school students in a public school in Lima, Peru. The general hypothesis was: there is a significant relationship between parental relationship and academic performance in elementary school students in a public school in Lima, Peru. The research was carried out in response to a latent problem in Peruvian public schools in relation to the academic performance of students, which is conditioned by the parental relationship, which has a direct impact on school success. For this purpose, a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational methodology was used. To obtain the information, the survey technique was used. The questionnaire and the record of grades for the period 2023 were used as instruments, which were processed by means of descriptive and inferential statistics; Spearman's Rho was applied for the latter to test the relationship between the variables. The descriptive results reported that 43% of the participants perceive that the parental relationship is good; while 83% obtained a level in process, this in terms of academic performance in terms of learning achievement. In the inferential results, a relationship was found between the variables Rho: ,548; p= ,002; likewise, significance was found in the specific hypothesis tests. It was concluded that there is a significant correlation between parental relationship and academic performance in elementary school students in a public school in Lima, Peru. Therefore, when the ties between the family and its offspring are in the best conditions, the students feel supported and confident to obtain a good academic performance.
