Descripción:The objective of this research work is to determine the impact of defense capabilities as a strategic tool to strengthen the foreign policy of a Modern State, 2020 - 2022. It was based on a qualitative approach of non-experimental design, cross-sectional and descriptive Eight in-depth interviews (7 face-to-face and 1 virtual) of one hour each were carried out per trial in 2023. The data collection instrument consisted of a guide of 10 open questions. The inclusion criteria were experts in the area of ​​Defense and Foreign Policy, in addition to voluntary participation. The most relevant results were: 1. The participation of the Armed Forces (AAFF) in the international arena must be in line with the foreign policy of the State; 2. International military cooperation is considered as the facilitator and creator of relations of reciprocal trust between States; and 3. Possess a certain degree of awareness and knowledge of the strategic decision-making levels of political power on defense matters to raise the strategic-political stature of the State. It is concluded that a greater implementation of Defense capabilities, represented by the Armed Forces, will allow a Modern State to maintain a real presence and considerable influence in the international relations’ field.
