Mortality rate for cerebral infarction in the macro region southwest of the State of Bahia, Brazil

Descripción:The aim of the study was to determine the mortality rate for Cerebral Infarction in the macro region Southwest of the State of Bahia, Brazil, among 2012 and 2016. This was a descriptive ecological study based on secondary data from the Information Technology Department of the Unified Health System. The variables collected were: sex, age groups and race. It was selected the mortality rate based on categories I63.0 to I63.9 of the chapter IX of the 10ª International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems. The data was described through the descriptive statistics with mortality rate per 100.000 inhabitants. The results showed that the greatest rate occurred in 2012 (27,17%), in self-declared Black people (20%), male gender (29,7%), with age between 35 and 39 years old (75%). The conclusion is that the mortality rate in the Southwest of the Bahia declined from the year 2012 with lower mortality in 2013, thus keeping a new paradigm.
