Descripción: | Exercise induced rhabdomyolysis is an important clinical syndrome because of its potential complications. Also, it represents a significant cost for the medical care systems, which is completely avoidable by using a proper exercise plan. The present article describes the cases of patients with this disease, that consulted to the emergency oom of San Juan de Dios Hospital, between october 2006 and october 2007. We gave special attention to complications and we tried to make a patient profile, tended to identify potential high risk patients. In a national search, we did not find any work on this direction. We found that young women, participating in spinning groups for the first time, near for 1 hour and without any education about the intensity of the excercice prior to it and according with their basal excercise capacity, were the most frecuent patient pattern. Finally, the main complication was acute renal failure. |
