الوصف:The study's goal was to analyze the perceptions about myths, stereotypes and social participation of the elderly in Costa Rica, it was carried out by the quantitative approach, using the telephone survey as a technique for gathering information. As a result, it was identified that 70.7% of the people interviewed strongly disagree or disagree with the affirmation: "elderly can no longer learn new things"; it is considered that this population is poorly integrated into family (56.3%) and decision-making spaces (63.5%), and they are not well respected within the country (62.3%). Conclusions found the importance to provide spaces for education, sensitization, awareness and empowerment aimed at different population groups, in which issues related to aging and old age are addressed, with the aim of eliminating ageism in all its manifestations, also to disseminate the human rights of the elderly, so that they can be part of the entire population's knowledge.
