Descripción:The aim of the study was to know the profile of orientations received in prenatal care in the interior of Mato Grosso, Brazil. This is an exploratory and qualitative study, conducted in three family health units, in a municipality in the middle north region of Mato Grosso, Brazil in January 2018. Data collection was performed by semi-structured interview and involved 10 postpartum women. The results show that the guidelines offered by prenatal professionals are comprehensive, superficial and mobilize little interest of women. Communication, welcoming and bonding during prenatal emerged as problems that weaken the production of care. It is concluded that during prenatal care, women and their families should have access to a variety of information for good pregnancy-puerperal development, which requires professional involvement and communication strategies. In addition, the way guidance is provided to women during prenatal consultations may be reflected in the gestational outcome and care that will be provided to the newborn.
