| Description: | In non cinephile circles the separation among Taiwanese, Hongkongese and Chinese (from the People’s Republic of China) cinemas might not be clear-cut. Thus, a chronological account of their film industries will also reveal the convoluted historical movements that gave rise to three distinctive geographical areas that share a common ethnographical identity and origin, but divergent processes of economic and political development that in the end endowed each national cinema with distinctive traits. |
