Beskrivelse:Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic multifactorial disease of the gastrointestinal tract that has a great impact on the lives of patients. An increase in the incidence of this entity has been seen in the pediatric population in recent decades. Some conditions have been found to favor the onset of the disease, modify clinical behavior and response to treatment; Within these conditions we have infections that cause alterations in the regulation of the immune system. On this occasion, the case of a pediatric patient with early-onset inflammatory bowel disease associated with congenital infection by human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) is described. The joint presentation of these two conditions favored an aggressive evolution of the disease and a refractory response to the established management, which will be discussed in this clinical case.
