Descripción: | The Musical Historical Archive propose this publication as part of the series Constructoras sonoras (Women Sound constructors) that it develops in collaboration with the artistic production office of the School of Musical Arts of the University of Costa Rica, within the framework of the Bicentennial of the independence of Central America (1821- 2021). The Piezas breves para cuarteto (pieces for strings quartet) are contemporary to the Cantata a la Independencia de Centroamérica para barítono, coro y banda (cantata to the Independence of Central America for baritone, choir and band), winner of the contest called by the then Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Costa Rica, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of independence (1821 -1971). The Piezas breves para cuarteto by Rocío Sanz allow us to analyze the double complexity posed by her figure: as an emigrant composer, and as a Latin American artist who worked with techniques understood as “avant-garde” or “experimental”, participating in the technical-compositional research of the postwar during the second half of the 20th century. |
