Περιγραφή:This paper presents an approach to the epic heroic character of Medea in the Argonautics of Apolonius of Rodes, taking into account the mythical elaboration of the author of the Argonauts myth. The analysis indicates the transformation of the heroic space in the representation of the femininity and masculinity in the Hellenistic epic. Heroism is the meeting space and place where categories are subverted and objectified feminine bodies. Medea transforms the relations of power, ethnicity and sexuality and recovers de feminine body when she assumes the hero place in the story. The theoretical frame work for epic, Argonauts, heroism, space and feminine literary studies based upon the following authors among others: Nagy (2006), Vernant (1973), Foucault (2006), Bordieu (1984), McDowell (2000, 2005), Meyers (2002, 2003), Algra (1994), Lenhart (2011), Claus (1995), Featherstone (1993), Detienne (1991), Thalmann (2011) and Sunoikisis (2014).
