Descripción: | The results of paper electrophoretic analysis of hemolymph pools of fifth instar nymphs of R. prolixus, T. phyllosoma, T. infestans, T. platensis and T. pallidipemús, fed either on pigeons or on rabbits are presented. R. prolixus and T. infestans show 3 main fractions; T. platensis 4, and T. phyllosoma and T. pallidiPennis only 2. A quantitatively less important fraction is present in all the species and is characterized for its higher mobility, as compared with mammalian albumin, and is usually divided in two smaller fractions in T. infestans, T. phyllosoma and T. pallidiPennis. Each species has a qualitatively and quantitatively distint electrophoretic pattern, except T. phYllosoma and T. pallidiPennis, which show similar patterns. The insect electropherogram is different from that of the host even immediately after the blood meal. Quantitative data are given for the fractions and or the total proteins of the five species, at several intervals after the blood meal. Total protein values are different for each species and higher right after the meal and again after a certain period of starvation. |
