Descripció:Introduction: Given the increase in high temperatures worldwide, and their effects on human health, such as heat stroke, sunstroke, and dehydration, certain social groups are in conditions of greater vulnerability. The objective of this study is to analyze the distribution of the basic causes of injury due to exposure to high temperatures in agricultural workers in Sonora during the years 2019 to 2023. Methodology: Using a database from the Sonora Health Secretariat on cases of injury due to excessive natural heat exposure in the state, descriptive and association statistics were applied. The variables of interest were gender, age, occupation, location of injury, social security affiliation, and basic causes of injury. Results: Two agricultural localities had the highest incidence rates, Poblado Miguel Alemán (Municipality of Hermosillo) and Estación Pesqueira (Municipality of San Miguel de Horcasitas); 92.8% of day laborers lacked access to social security, and young males had the highest incidence ¿; for every three injured men, there was one injured woman. An association was found between temperature and occupation, particularly in relation to agricultural work (χ² = 68, p = 0.000); and, finally, dehydration was more frequent among agricultural workers without social security than in non-agricultural occupations. Conclusions: Agricultural workers exhibited higher incidence rates, with special emphasis on young males; structural vulnerability conditions and gender favor greater exposure to high temperatures.
