| الوصف: | Within the framework of the debate on the relationship between output and greenhouse gas emissions, this paper aims to analyze the link between CO₂ emissions from electricity generation and GDP per capita for nine of the relatively more developed countries in Latin America. Based on the results of the proposed descriptive analysis, it is possible to conclude that it is energy policy decisions—rather than output—that determine the emissions trajectory from electricity generation in the countries under study, thereby questioning the inclusion of emissions from this source in tests of the Carbon Kuznets Curve hypothesis. |
