Both sexes and all age groups, from childhood to old age, were represented. Four samples were taken from different parts of the mouth, and the material was suspen:led in a drop of eosin solution and examined immediately. Entamoeba gingivalis was present in 155 out of the total of 236 patients (65,5 %) including 6 out of 20 who practised good oral hygiene. Trichomonas tenax was found in 31 patients (13,1 %), in all of whom Entamoeba was also present, and one of whom belonged to the group of 20 with good hygienic habits mentioned above.
