Descripción:This research studies the development of the agricultural industry in Central Pacific Region of Costa Rica during the second half of the 20th century; problematic that is analyzed from the theoretical principles of agricultural technical change. The principal sources of this research are agricultural and livestock censuses of the years 1955, 1963, 1973 and 1984, found in the archives of the Department of Statistics and Censuses, the reports of the Executive Secretariat of Agricultural Sector Planning, and Natural Resources Renewable (its Spanish initials: SEPSA) for the period 1985 - 1987, and reports from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (its Spanish Initials: MAG).
